How long?

And so it happened! After a year of having a so called peaceful year...terror has struck. And this time right here in my own city. Am I surprised considering that Pune is considered a safe city? No I am not. Am I angry? Well I guess we all are beyond that. What amazes me is the consistency of our intelligence agencies failures...I am not even bothering to mention our politicians. The less said about them the better. As the days go by, we will see how the blame game progresses which has already started.

The fact that it has happened in Pune is a matter of concern and though I as a citizen should be scared, I am not. I guess as a citizen of this country and having seen how our country and its system works, it was not at all surprising. But how long can we continue with this attitude? This attitude that things like this will happen? How long can we keep on saying that our systems will continue to perform in this abysmal manner? Isn’t it time that we start making our leaders accountable? Isn’t it time that we as citizens of this country voice our opinions loud and clear without being scared of the consequences? And this is not just terror attacks but also regarding the ways and means which are used by the political parties to get into the limelight, which more than getting them in limelight disrupts our daily lives. It’s time that we stood up for what we believe.

And the newest entrant is....

Shah Rukh Khan!!

SRK is the latest to be added to the list of celebrities who have been at the receiving end of the Sena brigade. As if Sachin wasn't a big enough celebrity, now the Sena has trained its gun on SRK. They have threatened to ensure that his films are not screened in Mumbai. In the coming days am sure they will threaten to not let him enter Mumbai. I wonder how it will help the cause, because if not Mumbai he will still be in some city in India. And the star that he is, am sure some state or other would be willing to have them stay in their region.

Why this whole drama for apology? All he did was voice his opinion. And in a country with freedom of speech and expression, why should anyone be held accountable for what they say. It's not as if he got a Pak player on his own and made them play. He just mentioned that it was wrong to not get them in the teams. With the way the Sena is going, maybe in the near future they might even make someone like APJ Kalam apologize for something. Its time that they found some cause worthwhile to fight about. There are lots and lots of issues for them to take up and fight about.

P.S. The latest salvo from junior Thackery is that only people born in Maharashtra should stay and work in mumbai...that might just take care of all the population problem the city is facing coz for all you know majority might have been born and brought up elsewhere!
