Questions...that will never be answered

It was an action-packed thriller to the core. But this one was not a movie, it was happening in real life! Where hundreds of innocent people lost their lives, hundreds were injured and which probably left a lot more mentally scarred.

Terrorist attacks are not new to Mumbaikars, but this was one which has probably left them feeling hopeless and angry at the same time. And its not just the Mumbaikars who are angry, the entire nation is!

Am I a Mumbaikar? No I am not. But even then I felt helpless, depressed and angry during the 60 hour terror siege by the terrorists. I was pained on seeing the magnificent Taj structure go up in flames every two hours. I was pained when we lost the top brass of our police force. I was waiting for the end of the operations as much as all Mumbaikars. And like me, I am sure a majority of people across the country felt the same. And the whole of India wants answers to lots of questions.

* Why does it keep happening again and again?
* Who is accountable?
* How does the government expect people to trust them now?
* Isn't making changes in government now a little too late?
* Isn't it time that we stop lauding Mumbai's resilient spirit and take concrete steps for their safety?
* How does the government expect our police force to fight terrorism? With lathis? Without helmets and bullet proof jackets?
* Wasn't the government risking the NSG commandos lives? Especially when their delay in calling and getting them to Mumbai had ensured that the terrorist were well holed out and prepared for them in that time?
* How is there an intelligence failure every time?
* If the coast gaurd was informed and government informed how come there was not even the smallest of step taken in the right direction?
* Where have the sons of soil gone? Why are they not working to fight terror to make Maharashtra a better place or atleast helping the injured in the terror?

There are lots of questions that can go here. And we will probably never get answers to these questions. But even if some concrete steps are taken in near future to ensure that these questions don't crop up that would be good enough!

What is the world coming to?

For sometime now reading about murders has become a daily thing. And so has terrorism. But hearing about someone being brutally hacked to death right in front of my society made me wonder what the world is coming too. Today people kill one another for the smallest possible reason. We have CEO's being murdered by sacked employees, boyfriends killing girlfriends for rejection, or worse woman being beaten because people thought she was a terrible driver! No need to mention the repercussions of the 'Raj mania.'

Have we as a society become so intolerant? Has our lifestyle changed so much that even the smallest reason is good enough to send us in a fit of rage? And what about conscience? Is there none left?

If this is how it continues “we will be dead before global warming kills us” as a friend of mine puts it and which so hold true.
