Experiencing A Wednesday

Blasts in Mumbai, Ahemdabad, Banglore, Delhi...

The names of cities in the list keep on increasing. Innocent people are killed time and again because of terror attacks.

Where will the terrorists strike this time? Will I, the common man, be safe?

These questions cross the minds of people across major metros in India. And especially in Mumbai. Each time after a blast thousands of innocent people lose their lives and thousands are injured. But the very next day people are back to their daily routine. What else will they do? Do they have a choice? They have a family to support and a house to run. And because of this time and again Mumbai has been termed the resilient city. But then how long will the people be resilient and not react?

This is what A Wednesday tries to show.

A Wednesday tries to delve into the mind of a resilient common man. It's a very well made and well thought out film. It's fast and to the point. The plot is very well written and the final product is equally good. The director has not gone overboard to get his point across. As far as acting goes, there is no need to say anything considering the likes of Naseerudin Shah and Anupam Kher are the lead actors. These veterans are ably supported by the rest of the cast.

The film could have done without a few characters like Deepal Shaw and a few stupid dialogues out of the blue like 'Inspector Jai tum shaadi shuda ho...'or 'Dar lag raha hai...'. Also sleeker editing would have worked wonders. But then these things shouldn't take away anything from the movie. Most importantly Neeraj Pandey should be lauded for keeping the length to a strict 90 minute.
