Want to earn money? Play cricket!

"I don’t think I will send my kids to school. I will just ensure that they can play cricket a bit. And also ensure that they know how to model decently. That will be more than enough to ensure that they not only a decent lifestyle but a lavish one at that!"

My friend had a point I must say. Cricket is no longer a mere sport. There have always been people who want to see their children become Gavaskar's and Tendulkar's. But that was because of their craziness for cricket as a sport. Today, it is more of like a fast-lane to instant fame and money. A couple of good matches and you are assured of money in the form of sponsorships and contracts with advertising agencies. Leave aside the money they earn from the cricket board.

Cricket was always a game with lotsa money involved, but now with the advent of IPL, the picture has improved further. Now money is flowing from all possible directions for the cricketers. And with superstars and industrialists associated with the game there will be no dearth in the influx of money for the game.

There’s money for hitting a six, there's money for holding onto a catch; money for fielding and if it continues at this pace, within a couple of years, there will be money for stepping onto the field!

So why bother about sending kids to school, loose sleep over their exams when all you can do is ensure that they can bat or bowl a bit!
