Ticket-less Travel: The Best Option

Reservations needed. We need to catch the development train. And we cannot travel ticket-less. After all, it’s illegal!

That is what the government seems to be saying. The recent announcement of reservation for medical students seems to be reflecting this opinion. After all India is on the road to development. How can they afford to miss the train?

But what the government seems to be forgetting is that this is one train on which they can travel ticket-less. Or rather would be best if traveled ticket-less. The destination will be reached and in a much better way. This reservation will be better with first come (ranked) first served basis (admission) criteria. And to come first the people will need merit certificate and not the caste certificate.
No denying the fact that reservations are needed, but are they needed at such high level? Are they needed for a profession like medical? Wouldn’t it be better to first educate the people in the rural areas? Wouldn’t it do the country good if basic primary education is provided to all and sundry in the country? Wouldn’t that make it lot easier for the development train to reach its destination and in a much more successful way? Or is the ticketed traveling a ticket for political fame and prosperity? From the looks of it sure looks like a political card. But looking at the way the situation is, the card has not really worked like a trump card.
